Types of Sessions:

Sarah Liz Wellness Coaching provides several options for coaching sessions: I hold individual appointments at my Santa Rosa office for those desiring face-to-face meetings. I also schedule phone appointments and provide coaching by email. I do make home visits when appropriate, particularly with elderly clients.

History-taking:

I begin all my coaching relationships with a certain amount of history-taking to allow me to get to know you and your desires for change. For some, this process is extensive, while for others, this stage is brief. This process also allows me to get an idea of your style and the approach that will be most useful and comfortable for you. I provide questionnaires and exercises to help define and understand the areas needing attention.

Style of Sessions:

Workbook: Some clients prefer a more organized and defined process, and for them I use a workbook developed specifically for diet and exercise change. This workbook provides guided assignments for weekly written exercises along with prompts for certain actions, education, and awareness-building. This is a 12 week program. The assignments done during the week will be brought into the coaching session and provide the content for that week.

Open-ended: Other clients prefer a more free-flowing experience. In this format, our sessions will be spent looking at many of the issues from the workbook, but in a less defined manner. Exercises and assignments will be determined during each session as appropriate to the individual's needs.

Phone and Email: Phone and email appointments are flexible in nature and can be defined together prior to beginning. These sessions can be structured by the workbook format or be open-ended. They can also provide a more abbreviated check-in type coaching that is useful for some situations.

Home Visits: For elderly persons, it is often appropriate to hold sessions in their own home. My focus in this instance is to provide encouragement and guidance for gentle exercise and stretching while listening to the reminiscing that is an important process in later life.

At the core of my coaching work is a belief in the health and power of each individual, regardless of how separate from that power a person may feel. We will spend time identifying what strengths have been apparent in your life and where you have lost the connection to your power. We will look at the underlying beliefs that may be interfering with your freedom of choice. Often when discovering the context in which certain beliefs developed, we are able to see that they are outdated - that what was once useful is now counterproductive. I will assist you in finding ways to replace those outdated beliefs with ones more in line with your current life circumstances.

We will look at many different resources from my “bag of tricks” and experiment with what works for you and what doesn't. Often the simplest of exercises can lead to profound change.

I believe that the energy tied to managing problems, once released, can be freed toward matters of creativity and growth. I believe this freedom allows connection to the joy and exhilaration for life that is innate in all of us.

It is never too late to change. There is no problem too big. There is no obstacle that cannot be overcome. No matter where you are or how far down you have been, there is health and wellness within your reach.
